The core of my creative activity & research is costume design. Theatrical design requires a large knowledge base & a variety of skills in multiple disciplines. Costume design involves script analysis, in-depth research, collaboration, budgeting, costume technology, studio art skills, R&D, interpersonal skills, clothing construction, & knowledge of textiles. This is true regardless if it is a professional or academic production- theatre, dance or opera.
Below the slideshow is a listing of my theatrical designs while at Penn State. Show titles will take you to a show page for the majority of the productions.

SLIDESHOW to the right is of the world premier of Audrey Cefaly's Alabaster. This rolling world premier began at Florida Rep Theatre as part of the National New Play Network & was nominated for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize.
This is a brief example of what is involved working on a costume & makeup design for a new play: the research, rough sketches, makeup/ hair/costume research, final costume renderings, fittings, acquisition of goods, budgeting, paperwork, wardrobe training, & promotion of the piece. This show required heavy SFX & training of both costume & wardrobe crew to show them how to make, paint, & apply/ remove the prosthetics. This is one example of what each & every design requires in its own unique way. |
