Class DescriptionInterdisciplinary graduate Design studio is a open plan studio space for Costume & Scenic Design Grads to present, work, study, & work collaboratively as a whole. The class is broken down as follows:
Monday 9am-1pm: Full class critique on paper design projects Wednesday 9am-11am: Art Skill & Techniques Wednesday 11am-1pm: Costume Specific Critique & Skills Friday 9am-12pm: Studio Time/ One on One Sessions 4 professors curate projects to challenge the graduate design students throughout their 3 years at Penn State. First year students begin with a diagnostic project with sequential projects based on the student's needs. Projects are chosen to broaden the student's knowledge and exposure to a variety of texts across the canon of theatre, opera & dance while also ensuring their final portfolio shows a breadth of work in reality, fantasy, and multiple eras as well as a mix of artistic mediums. Emphasis is placed on script analysis, design concept, and presentation skills. |
